The ABCs of Scene: From Dialogue to Revision Workshop

In this workshop, Megan Vered and Jennifer Lang will guide you into and down the rabbit hole of writing, dialogue, crafting scene, and self-editing. In each class, you will read published work by a number of writers including Kiese Laymon, Carolyn Forche, and Harrison Candaleria Fletcher and respond to prompts. By the end of the three sessions you will have: 1) a clear grasp of how to craft and when to use dialogue and inner dialogue; 2) a full understanding of the elements needed to build a strong scene; 3) techniques and tips for self editing; and 4) 1-2 polished scenes.

1 session = $150 or 450nis

Megan Vered is a published essayist and literary hostess. Her essays and interviews have appeared in Brevity, Entropy, The Rumpus, The Maine Review and the Los Angeles Review of Books. Megan holds an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She lives with her husband and West Highland White Terrier in Marin County, where she leads local and international writing workshops and serves on the board of Heyday Books and the UC Berkeley Library.
