WORKSHOPS

Dare-Push-Play on the Page

In this workshop, we’re going to do what we’ve never done before: shake up our prose. We’re going to use our Israeli-inspired chutzpa to dare, to push, to play until we see new lightbulbs and sense interesting shifts. We’ll read hybrids and hermit-crab essays to help us loosen up and become more nimble-minded on the page. This is a generative workshop. Open to all genres, all levels.

Date: Friday, June 16, 2023 from 10:00 – 13:00
Cost: 460nis
Location: Central Tel Aviv, in person and/or on zoom, you choose

Writing Our Siblings: our best friends, our worst enemies co-led by Jennifer Lang and Nina Boug Lichtenstein

“Do you know what friendship is… It is to be brother and sister; two souls which touch without mingling, two fingers on one hand.” – Victor Hugo

Some of us grow up close with our siblings, some of us not. Others become estranged as adults, or find a way back to closeness as the years go by. There can be love, play, alliances, and respect in a sibling relationship, but there can also be rivalry, jealousy, struggle, and abuse.

In this workshop, we’ll talk about how these complex relationships bolster or belittle us, challenge and reward us. We’ll read short pieces about siblings and write, share, respond to each other’s writing. Open to all levels, all genres. Light refreshments will be served, and tea is always on the table.

Date: Thursday, August 24 from 10:00 – 13:00
Cost: 420nis if you register by August 5, 460nis subsequently
Location: Central Tel Aviv, in person and/or on zoom, you choose

Hunting & Titling Workshop

You’ve written something exquisite. Finished another story. Cannot find a title. No matter how many times you read and revise, nothing sticks. In this workshop, we’ll learn tips and techniques to find the best-fitting title. Open to all genres, all levels.

Date: TBD 2023 from 10:00-12:00
Cost: 250nis if you register by TBD; 300nis subsequently

Words of praise

The studio is a challenging, fascinating and safe space for new as well as seasoned writers to work on their technique. Jennifer is not only a talented writer in her own right but a gifted teacher. I have consistently walked away from each workshop inspired and ready to push my own writing forward.

Ruby N.

An original and rewarding writers’ studio for all levels. Jennifer’s table is a great place to delve deep, write and interact, progress and engage. Highly recommended.

Adina S.

Jennifer sees writing as a muscle that must be exercised often to build skills, add depth, identify and target issues, and, critically, find one’s voice. I thoroughly enjoy inhabiting her workshops, which at once challenge me to flex my creativity and tighten my grip on the craft. The longer I spend in Jennifer’s world, the better and stronger a writer I feel.
